About Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture
Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture, also known as Facial Rejuvenation, has become increasingly more popular in recent years. It is a non-surgical approach to facial rejuvenation and is also less expensive, safer and with less side effects than plastic surgery or Botox injections.
Cosmetic Acupuncture increases the circulation of blood and lymph to the face which can stimulate an immune response and reduce inflammation in the area. It can also stimulate cells to produce more collagen. Very small needles are gently inserted into various points on the face which creates painless micro traumas and causes the brain to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin to the area.
By needling specific points called motor points, muscles can relax and soften which can help to improve the appearance of fine lines. Various other acupuncture points on the body may also be used depending on the persons constitution. Also, as Acupuncture is a holistic treatment, the client’s overall health and wellbeing is taken into consideration and the treatment will also work on the inner body systems and overall energy system of the client.
A treatment will consist of a Gua Sha facial massage which is a massage using a Gua Sha stone, this is then followed by a general facial massage and then a Jade roller massage and subsequently the acupuncture needles are inserted.
Generally, a course of at least 8 treatments is necessary for visible results although some people will see results sooner as people will respond differently depending on their skin condition, lifestyle and stress levels.
