About Tui Na Massage
Tui Na (pronounced twee na), means to push and grasp and is a form of massage therapy which originated in China. It is a fundamental part of the Traditional Chinese Medicine system and is used in many hospitals in China as the first choice of healthcare.
Tui Na works on the theory that ‘blockages’ can lead to illness and by promoting blood flow and relieving those blockages health is restored. It is also used to remove tension and spasm in the muscles, to mobilise joints, increase range of motion and can help with nerve regulation. Various techniques using the hands, elbows and fingers are used including rolling, kneading and hacking to name a few.
